Fay’s method
Hypothetical method is based upon the fact, that child’s motion development is divided into stages.
The lowest stage of this development is crawling ( as a frog ).During this stage the child’s limbs move simultaneously. The second stage is homolateral crawling. Then the upper limb and leg move simultaneously at the same side of the body ( as a salamander). The last stage of motion development is heterolateral crawling, i.e. convertible. Fay’s method recommends these improvement models depending on child’s motion possibilities at his/her stage.
During improvement in Fay’s method you can also use extra means decreasing spastic and eliminating involuntary movements.
The exercises in this method are difficult and require repetition during the day.

Doman’s method
This method is a continuation of Fay’s method. It appeared as a result of activity of Glen Doman, the physiotherapist. In 1976 he established Fay’s Institute in Philadelphia (so called Institute of Creating Human’s Possibilities).
This method assumes that there are six main spheres in development of healthy child, which help complete functioning of human being.
These are: sight, hearing, touch, motion, speech and hand skills.
In Doman’s method the early raising of child’s skills is essential. Its purpose is to take over the tasks of damaged part of brain by the healthy part. In the foreground there is an intelligence conception. It is mentioned that the brain grows and develops properly if, beyond its individual possibilities, there are optimal conditions for development of motion, speech, manual skills.
In Doman’s method there are four development blocks, within which process of making more skillful takes place. These are as follows:
- Block of physiological development, where consuming big amount of vitamins is recommended
- Block of intellectual development aimed at continuous advancement of intellect, achieved by transmitting “intelligence bites”
- Block of social development preparing to life in society by giving principles and norms of social life and concern about emotional development
- Block of physical development, assuming achievement of getting fit by creeping, crawling, proper walking, gymnastics
Making more skillful by Doman’s method is based on stimulating the brain with appropriate signals. Thanks to multisensor stimulation the development of particular senses: touch, taste, sight, hearing takes place.
